Rain Gutter Materials

Aluminum

Aluminum rain gutters will never rust, although they can corrode if they come in direct contact with metals such as steel, tin or copper. While not as durable as some other materials, they can often last thirty years with proper maintenance. Their lack of durability, however, can be a problem if a branch falls on them or if a heavy ladder is placed on them, as this could cause them to become deformed and lose their shape. They are one of the most inexpensive types of rain gutters available, and they are easier to install than steel and copper gutters because the joints need no soldering. They are lightweight, making them relatively easy to install, and they are available in a variety of colors, often negating the need for them to be repainted on site.

Our seamless aluminum rain gutters are the ones we install most frequently. They’re popular because they look good with most types of architecture, yet they offer a good level of longevity and functionality for the price. One big advantage of seamless gutters is that they are custom built to the dimensions of the building. This means they don’t have the kind of seams and stress points that often need maintenance.

Key Features:

  1. Aesthetically pleasing: Aluminum gutters are provide clean lines that compliment the look of your home or business.
  2. Economical: Aluminum gutters are less expensive than other types of material, yet they’re durable and practical.
  3. Functional: Our seamless gutters don’t accumulate the buildup and water overload seen in conventional gutters.
  4. Long-lasting: Aluminum gutters are easy to upkeep, and have rust-free features. They have a usual lifespan of 20-35 years.
  5. Available in Many Colors: If you choose a color them, we can create it for you. Our color chart shows the wide choice of colors available.

Copper

Copper rain gutters are known for their durability as well as their good looks, although copper is one of the most expensive materials available for making rain gutters. Copper can also turn green over time, which some people find unappealing. They should last a very long time, however – longer than a person’s lifetime.

Copper rain gutters enjoy two key advantages over other gutter types: longevity and aesthetics. These two characteristics make copper rain gutters a popular choice for many. At Gutters Plus, we’re proud to be a leader in the fabrication, installation, and repair of seamless copper gutters in the San Diego area.

Key Features Include:

  1. Long-Lasting – Copper is one of the gutter materials that lasts the longest.
  2. Highly Durable – Copper gutters are tough and can take a higher level of abuse from weather and the elements
  3. Less Clogging and No Leaks – Our seamless gutters eliminate the kind of problems associated with sectioned gutters
  4. Aesthetically Pleasing – The color of copper gutters evolves over time, changing from a gleaming metal to an aged patination

About Seamless Copper Gutters:

Traditional gutters are assembled by putting together smaller pieces. This creates seams in the gutters, which compromises their structural integrity and creates points where the gutter system can clog. This, in turn, creates a need for more frequent cleaning. At Gutters Plus, our technology enables us to create seamless gutters to the exact specifications you require.

Copper gutters are available in box style or half-round. They are a great visual complement to a variety of different types of architecture.

Copper gutters are easy to install. After the measurements are taken, custom sections are created. These sections are welded to points on the infrastructure of the house.

Copper gutters are very durable. While they cost more than aluminum gutters, they last much longer.

Copper gutters have a quality look and feel, adding a touch of class that sets the hope apart. This increases its aesthetic appeal, as well as its overall value in the market.

A gutter system is often an overlooked part of the home, until it wears out. Seamless gutters provide a classic look that evolves over time. Give us a call to see how copper gutters can benefit your home.

Available in box style or half round, copper can visually complement a range of architectural styles, from Spanish Colonial to Modern.

Bonderized Steel

Also known as “paint grip”, bonderized steel is a type of galvanized steel. It’s treated with a phosphate bath and chromate dry. This results in a non-corrosive, grey surface. The surface is also micro-porous, make it act as a primer, ready for applying paint.

The phosphate also acts as a type of insulation, which makes the paint stick to the steel for a longer time. It’s best to paint bonderized steel right after installing, as the phosphate coating is vulnerable to white rust.

Due to its unique properties, zinc phosphate is perfect for rain gutters, downspouts, and other things that can be painted on site.
